An Electrical Foreman supervises and coordinates the work of electricians and other staff in order to ensure the successful completion of electrical projects; whether that be installation or testing & maintenance.
They are responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising all electrical projects, ensuring that they are completed to both a deadline and a specific budget.
What’s more, an Electrical Foreman also provides training and instruction to any member of the electrical team working under their supervision, as well as ensuring that all safety regulations are followed in order to keep the team, clients and public safe from potential harm.
Crucially, an Electrical Foreman must also hold knowledge of all aspects of electrical systems and confidently troubleshoot electrical problems as they arise.
An Electrical Foreman’s typical duties
To supervise & coordinate: an Electrical Foreman will supervise and coordinate the daily tasks and jobs to be done of electricians and other electrical workers in the team during the installation, maintenance, and repair processes of electrical systems and equipment.
To assign & examine: assigning duties, examining work for accuracy and quality, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and safety regulations is also a key duty of an electrical team’s Electrical Foreman.
To inspect & identify: an Electrical Foreman will need to be on hand to inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards and repair needs, ensuring everything is safe and operating to expectations.
To test & diagnose: Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in wiring, equipment, and fixtures is also an essential part of an Electrical Foreman’s role, as well as to diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components.
To understand & plan: Planning the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures is also an important part of an Electrical Foreman’s role within the team, based on job specifications and local codes.
